Links of the week

A few pieces of news about The Hobbit leads this weeks batch of links, but there's also news for The Dark Knight Rises and some great dietary suggestions. Also, my strange addiction to Hunger Games casting reports has finally come to an end.

Sucker Punch

I saw Sucker Punch over the weekend and wanted to post a couple of quick thoughts, because its such a ridiculously over-the-top movie that I think it deserves it. As the credits rolled (to a bizarre musical number), my friend gave the best description I've heard so far, calling a cross between Inception and a Lady Gaga music video. Going in, I was expecting Sucker Punch to be a pretty straight up exploitation flick. Basically 300 with hot women instead of shirtless guys, which to my mind would be an improvement. I ranked it fifth of the films I was looking forward to in 2011. Now Sucker Punch has received some negative reviews, and I'm going to have to disagree with those.

20 movies I want to see

There's probably a few glaring omissions, and some of these are almost certain to disappoint. One thing I noticed typing this up. There are definitely too many colons and numbers here (though Super 8 is off the hook), and Harry Potter picks up both of them. See the list after the jump.
